Fazel MT, et al. - An inquiry was set up with regard to the effectiveness of supplemental diabetes-related training modalities and volunteer activities for raising the first-year medical students knowledge/comfort in providing diabetes self-management education and support (DSMES) to patients. An advantage could be gained through the supplemental preclerkship diabetes-specific training modalities/volunteer programs. The medical students were provided with practical knowledge while improving their confidence in giving DSMES to patients with diabetes.
