Impact of socioeconomic status on paranasal sinus cancer disease-specific and conditional survival
Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery Jul 29, 2021
Sharma RK, Del Signore A, Govindaraj S, et al. - Researchers investigated the impact of socioeconomic status (SES) on disease-specific survival as well as on 5-year conditional disease-specific survival (CDSS; the change in life expectancy with increasing survivorship) in paranasal sinus cancer. In this cross-sectional analysis, they used the National Cancer Institute SES index. Study population comprised 3437 adults with sinus cancer. Findings revealed worse outcomes in relation to lower SES in this study population of paranasal sinus cancer patients. For gaining insight into the factors that add to such disparities, including tumor pathology and treatment course, further research should be conducted.
