Impact of segmentation density on spectral domain optical coherence tomography assessment in Stargardt disease
Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology Jan 10, 2019
Velaga SB, et al. - Authors assessed 40 subjects from the ongoing Natural History of the Progression of Atrophy Secondary to Stargardt disease (STGD) (ProgStar) study to analyze the influence of segmentation density on spectral domain optical coherence tomography assessment in STGD. They estimated total retina, outer nuclear layer (ONL), photoreceptor inner segments, photoreceptor outer segments (OS), and retinal pigment epithelial layer (RPE) with 49 B-scans. They suggested that using an adaptive strategy in manual segmentation of a subset of B-scans could yield thickness and area computations of retinal sublayers. They indicated an increase in the capability of SD-OCT grading policies in clinical trials for STGD and other related macular degenerative disorders.
