Impact of rurality on diabetes screening in the US
BMC Public Health Oct 04, 2019
Tran P, et al. - Researchers investigated the impact of living in a rural area and rurality on diabetes screening across the US. This study was performed on people who took part in the 2011, 2013, 2015, and 2017 nationally representative Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System surveys and who gave a response to a question on diabetes screening (n = 1,889,712). These data were utilized to estimate average adjusted predictions and average marginal effects at the national level. According to the findings, the reported levels of diabetes screening in urban, suburban, and rural areas were similar but a higher prevalence of diabetes risk factors was found in rural areas vs in urban areas, and therefore, there is arguably a requirement for increased diabetes screening in rural areas.
