Impact of re-excision of residual adjacent vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia (VIN III) and histological tumour-free margin (hTFM) on survival in primary squamous cell carcinoma of vulva
Archives of Gynecology and Obstetrics Sep 10, 2018
Gasimli K, et al. - Among patients with different histological tumor-free margin (hTFM) and in primary vulvar cancer, researchers examined the role of residual VIN III re-excision and compared differences in disease-free survival via retrospectively analyzing 42 patients with residual adjacent VIN III following primary surgery for vulvar cancer who were operated on between 2000 and 2016 in their clinic. In vulvar cancer patients, findings suggest a potential utility of hTFM as a predictive indicator for disease-free survival. They could not show re-excision for residual adjacent VIN III as a predictive factor for DFS after primary surgery in squamous cell cancer of vulva.
