Impact of primary payer status on outcomes among patients with burn injury: A nationwide analysis

Peluso H, et al. - The relationship between insurance provider and important outcomes was investigated among patients with burn injury. From the National Inpatient Sample, researchers selected adults with burn injury. As per observations, no impact of primary payer on in-hospital mortality or treatment metrics was noted among patients admitted for burn injury. However, when compared with private insurance, higher morbidity and resource utilization were evident in association with Medicaid, whereas uninsured patients displayed lower resource utilization.
