Impact of preoperative opioid use after emergency general surgery
Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery Jan 22, 2018
Kim Y, et al. - This study was designed to assess the impact of preoperative opioid use on outcomes after common, emergency general surgical procedures (EGS). Preoperative opioid use was found to be correlated with greater resource utilization after emergency general surgery, as well as vastly different postoperative opioid prescription patterns. The findings could be valuable for understanding the impact of preoperative opioid use on patient care, and its implications on hospital and societal cost.
