Impact of polymyxin B associated acute kidney injury in 1-year mortality and renal function recovery
International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents Mar 08, 2018
Gomes EC, et al. - Researchers here determined the impact of polymyxin B (PMB)- associated Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) in 1-year mortality and renal function recovery. They observed that mortality rates were high in the first year after PMB use and only one-third of patients who develop AKI return to baseline renal function. In this study, renal failure and dialyses during PMB therapy were related to 1 year mortality. Independent association of age and re-exposure to PMB with mortality was observed.
