Bonadio W, et al. - Perforated appendicitis can result in potentially serious complications requiring prolonged medical care. In this study, researchers aim to assess the optimal approach to successfully manage this condition. Children with perforated appendicitis and intra-abdominal infection (IAI) frequently experience complicated and prolonged clinical course. Medical management consisting solely of parenteral antibiotic therapy prove often ineffective in resolving IAI. Percutaneous drainage (PD) often results in rapid clinical improvement.
