Impact of obesity on postoperative complications after laparoscopic and open incisional hernia repair â A prospective cohort study

Alizai PH, et al. - Researchers planned this study to determine the impact of BMI on the outcome after laparoscopic and open incisional hernia repair. Compared to non-obese patients, obese patients indicated no marked increased morbidity rate following incisional hernia repair. The recurrence rate seemed to have no significant association with BMI. With regard to duration of surgery, laparoscopic intraperitoneal onlay mesh could be beneficial for obese patients.
