Impact of number of oral antiarrhythmic drug failures before referral on outcomes following catheter ablation of ventricular tachycardia
JACC: Clinical Electrophysiology Jun 22, 2018
Romero J, et al. - Given that those who fail antiarrhythmic drugs (AADs) are usually referred for ventricular tachycardia (VT) ablation, researchers assessed the link between the number of oral AAD failures before referral for VT ablation and ensuing clinical outcomes. Patients were grouped as single-drug failure (≤1 AAD) or multidrug failure (>1 AADs). Participants were followed for 35 ± 46 months. More advanced heart disease and worse clinical outcomes were seen post-ablation in patients with SHD and failure of multiple oral AADs before VT ablation referral.
