Academic Emergency Medicine Nov 04, 2018
Addesso LC, et al. - Researchers investigated the impact of medical scribes on provider productivity and provider satisfaction in this observational study comparing emergency department (ED) pre-scribe and post-scribe clinical productivity metrics for 18 pediatric emergency medicine physicians, 2 general pediatricians, and 2 nurse practitioners working in the 12-bed non-urgent area of the pediatric ED. Findings revealed an increase in ED efficiency without decreasing patient satisfaction in association with medical scribes. The use of scribes was found to be strongly favored by providers, while nurses were indifferent.
