Impact of hepatitis C virus infection on long-term mortality after acute myocardial infarction: A nationwide population-based, propensity-matched cohort study in Taiwan

Kuo SH, et al. - In this study, the authors assessed the impact of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection on 12-year mortality rates after acute myocardial infarction (AMI) via the Taiwan National Health Insurance Research Database (NHIRD). The 12-year mortality rates of patients with AMI was affected due to HCV infection, especially among those who were male and those who had hypertension. An additional increase was noted in the long-term mortality rates of patients with AMI with HCV infection due to cirrhosis.
