Impact of flow, gradient, and left ventricular function on outcomes after transcatheter aortic valve replacement

Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions Oct 13, 2017

Carreras ET, et al. - This study examined the effect of low flow with and without preserved left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) on outcomes after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). Findings demonstrated that low flow not only independently predicted 1-year mortality and heart failure (HF)but also served as a stronger predictor than either low AVG or LVEF in patients undergoing TAVR. At 1-year, increased mortality and HF were observed among patients with low flow and preserved EF. Patients with low flow and reduced EF indicated outcomes similar to patients with normal flow.
