Impact of enhanced recovery after surgery on long-term outcomes and postoperative recovery in patients undergoing hepatectomy: A retrospective cohort study

Zhang Z, et al. - Researchers herein examined how implementation of the enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) program affects postoperative recovery and the long-term prognosis in patients who underwent hepatectomy. A total of 1,143 patients who underwent hepatectomy from January 2015 to December 2018 in Huadong Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University, were included in this retrospective study. Implementation of a 24-point ERAS protocol for patients who underwent hepatic resection was done since June 2016. Per findings, safe application of ERAS program to patients who underwent hepatectomy is possible which thereby improve their recovery and prolong overall survival and disease-free survival.
