Impact of donor, recipient, and matching on survival after high-emergency lung transplantation in France
European Respiratory Journal Oct 19, 2019
Roussel A, Sage E, Massard G, et al. - In this exhaustive French national study, researchers analyzed the impact of the donor, recipient, and matching on overall survival after the High Emergency Lung Transplantation (HELT) procedure by fitting marginal Cox models. For this investigation, they reviewed the procedures performed between July 2007 and December 2015. Two thousand three hundred thirty-five patients had lung transplantations in 11 French centers during the study period. The study sample consisted of 1,544 patients (503 HELT and 1,041 regular allocations). Findings suggested an association of HELT with an adverse outcome as compared with regular allocation. This adverse effect is primarily related to the severity of the recipients rather than the donor or matching features.
