Impact of corneal donor lens status on two-year course and outcome of Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK)
Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology Nov 23, 2017
Schaub F, et al. - Authors intended to discern the impact of lens status of corneal donors on the two-year course and clinical outcome of Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK). It was reported that endothelial cell density (ECD) was higher in phakic corneal donors. It persisted at a higher level during the course causing an initially faster reduction of corneal edema compared to pseudophakic DMEK grafts. The pseudophakic transplants with high ECD, possibly yielded comparable functional results in recipients after a two-year course.
