Impact of cone beam - CT on adrenal vein sampling in primary aldosteronism
European Journal of Radiology Dec 26, 2019
Meyrignac O, Arcis E, Delchie MC, et al. - In this retrospective single-center study involving 91 adrenal vein sampling (AVS) methods implemented by specialist radiologists between March 2011 and January 2017, experts examined estimated the contribution of CB-CT (cone beam CT) to the complete success rate of AVS, and in particular to the selective cannulation of the right adrenal vein (RAV) in a group of people with primary aldosteronism. Fifty cases were done with CB-CT and 50 were performed without. There was no meaningful improvement in radiation exposure with CB-CT. No notable rise in radiation exposure with CB-CT was seen. Fluoroscopy time and quantity of iodine injected were significantly lower with CB-CT compared with without. Thus, it was found that CB-CT permits a superior assessment of the selectivity of right-sided adrenal catheterization and greatly enhances the overall success rate of AVS.
