Impact of cleaning procedures on adhesion of living cells to three abutment materials
The International Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Implants Sep 16, 2017
Mehl C, et al. - Study authors attempted to test the adhesion properties of live gingival fibroblasts to 3 different implant abutment materials after 5 different cleaning procedures. They observed that all cleaning methods provided comparable cell detachment forces for lithium disilicate (LS) abutments. They suggested that argon plasma (AP)/photofunctionalization with high-intensity ultraviolet light (PF) or ultrasonic cleaning were the most suitable methods for strong cell adhesion on zirconium dioxide (Zr). They concluded that ultrasound and disinfection (UD) presented the best cell adhesion for titanium alloy (Ti).
