Impact of antibiotic therapy on the rate of negative test results for chronic endometritis: A prospective randomized control trial
Fertility and Sterility Feb 07, 2021
Song D, He Y, Wang Y, et al. - Via performing a prospective, single-blind randomized controlled trial, researchers sought to compare the rates of negative test results for chronic endometritis (CE) between individuals who did and did not receive antibiotic treatment. A total of 132 women with CE were randomized to receive antibiotic therapy with oral levofloxacin 500 mg and tinidazole 1,000 mg daily for 14 days or to the control group that did not receive any treatment. Relative to the control group, the treatment group had significantly higher CE rate of negative test results after one course of antibiotic treatment. Overall findings revealed effectiveness of a course of broad-spectrum oral antibiotic therapy for 14 days in the treatment of CE in > 89.8% of cases. However, there remains uncertainty if treatment improved pregnancy outcomes.
