Impact of age on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation survival of patients with cardiac failure
Clinical Interventions in Aging Sep 01, 2017
Lee SN, et al. – Researchers undertook this study to assess the influence of age on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) survival of patients with cardiac failure and to analyze age based predictive factors for survival. In these subjects, older age did not confer risk for mortality at 90 days, independently. Data offers a better insight regarding the differences observed in age–based predictors for ECMO survival. It was observed that pre–ECMO laboratory findings and mental status could assist clinicians in the prediction of a patientÂs prognosis.
