Impact of admission hyperglycemia on short and long-term prognosis in acute myocardial infarction: MINOCA versus MIOCA
Cardiovascular Diabetology Oct 01, 2021
Paolisso P, Foà A, Bergamaschi L, et al. - Researchers described how admission stress-hyperglycemia (aHGL) is associated with short and long-term outcomes in patients admitted with myocardial infarction and obstructive coronary arteries (MIOCA) vs non-obstructive coronary arteries (MINOCA).
This is a multicenter, population-based, cohort study of the prospective registry.
Findings revealed a strong predictive value of aHGL for adverse short- and long-term outcomes in both MIOCA and MINOCA, regardless of diabetes.
In all AMI patients, consideration should be given to aHGL as a high-risk prognostic marker, independently of the underlying coronary anatomy.
