Impact of a same-day breast biopsy program on disparities in time to biopsy
Journal of the American College of Radiology Jun 05, 2019
Dontchos BN, et al. - From biopsy recommendation to performance, observers intended to measure a same-day biopsy program impact on in time disparities. All diagnostic examinations were identified that commences to biopsy, pre- and post- implementation of same-day biopsy program. Demographic characteristics and biopsy information in pre- vs post-implementation groups were assessed and compared. A decrease in the median time from the same-day biopsy program from 8 to 0 days was significantly noted. Patients with Medicare insurance were associated with prolonged days to biopsy during the pre-implementation period and no persisting previously seen disparities were found during the post-implementation period. Therefore, racial or ethnic or insurance disparities in time, from biopsy recommendation to execution after same-day biopsy program implementation was not evident.
