Zhang Q, et al. - As older adults make up a significant portion of people living with HIV receiving antiretroviral therapy (ART), researchers here examined the immunological and virological responses to ART for older patients still need to be clarified. From 2001 to 2018, 4,937 citations were identified; of these, they selected 40 studies to examine ART efficiency in older HIV-infected patients, including more than 888,151 patients receiving ART. The analysis revealed a correlation of older age after ART initiation with a poorer immunological response and a higher risk of mortality, implying the necessity to rise early diagnosis and treatment among older HIV patients.
