Immunohistochemical expression of HIK1083 and MUC6 in endometrial carcinomas
Histopathology Aug 16, 2019
Hodgson A, et al. - Ninety-one endometrial carcinomas (56 endometrioid, 16 clear cell, and 19 serous) from 91 patients treated with hysterectomy were assessed to evaluate the expression of HIK1083 and MUC6 in various types of endometrial carcinoma. HIK1083 was not expressed by any of the 91 cases, while 66% of cases exhibited at least the focal expression of MUC6; 54 of 60 positive cases displayed moderate or strong staining. Endometrioid tumors were more inclined to express MUC6 vs cases of clear cell or serous carcinoma. In conclusion, endometrial carcinoma frequently expressed MUC6, while HIK1083 was regularly negative, and so, when positive, was a more dependable indicator for differentiating gastric-type EA from some of its endometrial imitators.
