Immediate vs delayed reconstruction of head and neck cutaneous melanoma
The Laryngoscope Jun 27, 2018
Quimby AE, et al. - Available published data on the oncologic outcomes associated with immediate vs delayed reconstruction of cutaneous melanoma in the head and neck region was reviewed to assess the associated rates of positive margins requiring re-excision and rates of local recurrence. Studies directly comparing oncologic outcomes associated with immediate vs delayed reconstruction following excision of head and neck cutaneous melanoma were lacking. The limited amount of heterogeneous data suggested that, for head and neck cutaneous melanoma, single-stage excision with immediate reconstruction could be a sound alternative to delayed reconstruction.
