IL-36α contributes to enhanced T helper 17 type responses in allergic rhinitis
Cytokine Jan 31, 2020
Qin X, et al. - Researchers inquired about the regulation of T helper 17 (Th17) inflammation by interleukin-36 (IL-36) family cytokines in allergic rhinitis (AR) in this study performed with 21 patients with AR and 20 healthy controls. They detected as well as compared the expression of serum protein and mRNA of IL-36 family cytokines between AR and control groups. To verify the in vitro findings, they established a mouse model. Relative to the control group, a significant upregulation of serum expression of IL-36 cytokines and Th17 cytokines (IL-17 and IL-23) was noted in AR patients. The differentiation and function of Th17 cells were promoted by IL-36α. Overall, the involvement of IL-36α in the regulation of Th17 responses in allergic rhinitis was concluded based on the findings.
