IL-33 exacerbates liver sterile inflammation by amplifying neutrophil extracellular trap formation
Journal of Hepatology Oct 01, 2017
Yazdani HO, et al. - The role of interleukin-33 (IL-33) in neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) formation during liver sterile inflammation was determined. Data established that mainly released from liver sinusoidal endothelial cells (LSECs), IL-33 caused excessive sterile inflammation after hepatic ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) by inducing NET formation. To minimize organ damage, therapeutic targeting IL-33/ST2 could extend novel strategies in various clinical settings that were associated with sterile inflammation.
