Idiopathic unilateral vocal fold paralysis in older patients: Characteristics in the disease course and implication of computed tomography for evaluation of etiology
Annals of Allergy, Rhinology, & Laryngology Sep 12, 2018
Kwon M, et al. - In elderly vs younger patients, researchers sought to compare the characteristics of idiopathic unilateral vocal fold paralysis (IUVFP), including the diagnostic yield of computed tomography (CT) scans for identifying the structural causes of IUVFP. Significantly higher diagnostic yields were provided by the CT scans in older patients than younger patients. Findings did not suggest a significant difference in the degrees of symptoms and complications and likelihood of natural recovery between younger and older patients with IUVFP.
