Idiopathic generalized exfoliative dermatitis and association with antihypertensive drugs and statins: A retrospective case-control study
Dermatology Feb 07, 2019
Cheong KW, et al. - Researchers analyzed inpatients hospitalized under the dermatology service at the Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore, between 1 May 2013 and 31 May 2015, to estimate the role of antihypertensive drugs and statins in the development of idiopathic generalized exfoliative dermatitis (GED). They noticed a history of treatment with antihypertensive drugs/statins among 42 candidates. They did not find much use of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors, angiotensin receptor blockers, β-blockers, calcium channel blockers, thiazides or statins compared to controls with an OR=0.81. Conclusively, they were suspicious about the correlation of chronic use of antihypertensive drugs/statins with idiopathic GED.
