Identifying trends in undiagnosed diabetes in U.S. adults by using a confirmatory definition: A cross-sectional study
Annals of Internal Medicine Dec 14, 2017
Selvin E, et al. - The intention of the authors was to provide national estimates of undiagnosed diabetes via a confirmatory testing strategy, in line with clinical practice guidelines. The findings illustrated the significance of establishing the burden of undiagnosed diabetes for monitoring public health efforts related to screening and diagnosis. When a confirmatory definition is used, undiagnosed diabetes served as a relatively minor fraction of the total diabetes population. It was noted that maximum U.S. adults with diabetes (about 90%) received a diagnosis of the condition.
