Identifying risk factors for blindness from primary open-angle glaucoma by race: A case-control study

Williams AM, et al. - The factors related to blindness from primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) among black and white patients was determined. Similar risk factors for blindness at presentation were shared by the black and white case-control pairs with POAG. Compared to black controls, black cases required notably more glaucoma surgeries. In contrast, between white cases and controls, there was no significant difference in surgery. No difference in medication changes was noted in either case-control set.
