Watt J, et al. - A meta-analysis was conducted by the researchers to identify the prognostic factors related to the postoperative delirium risk among older adults undergoing elective surgery. Caution was recommended for interpreting meta-analyses of non-randomized studies due to the potential influence of unmeasured confounding. However, potentially modifiable prognostic factors were identified, with the inclusion of frailty and psychotropic medication use. These factors ought to be targeted to optimize care.
