Identifying and addressing osteoporosis knowledge gaps in women with premature ovarian insufficiency and early menopause: A mixed methods study
Clinical Endocrinology Jun 27, 2019
Goh M, et al. - In women with premature ovarian insufficiency (POI)/early menopause (EM), researchers identified information and knowledge gaps and behaviors regarding bone health and co-designed an osteoporosis factsheet. For this mixed-methods study, women with POI/EM (menopause before ages 40 and 45 years respectively) were included. According to results, most reported inadequate dietary calcium intake and exercise. Knowledge gaps regarding risk factors and treatment options were also indicated. A co-designed fact sheet is satisfactory, deals with knowledge gaps found in females with POI/EM for osteoporosis and influences behaviors and facilitates healthcare discussions.
