Identification of prognostic risk factors for esophageal adenocarcinoma using bioinformatics analysis
OncoTargets and Therapy Aug 01, 2018
Dong Z, et al. - Researchers investigated key genes and miRNAs in esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC), using the Gene Expression Omnibus database. They downloaded mRNA microarray data sets GSE1420, GSE26886, and GSE92396 and miRNA data set GSE16456 and used R software to obtain differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and differentially expressed miRNAs (DEMs). They identified 44 overlapping genes and 56 miRNA0-mRNA pairs. They noted an association of five genes (FAM46A, RAB15, SLC20A1, IL1A, and ACSL1) with overall survival or relapse-free survival. Overall, they concluded that the identified prognosis-related genes and differentially expressed miRNA offered potential biomarkers for EAC diagnosis and treatment.
