Identification of novel T1D risk loci and their association with age and islet function at diagnosis in autoantibody-positive T1D individuals: Based on a two-stage genome-wide association study
Diabetes Care Jun 09, 2019
Zhu M, et al. - For the first two-stage genome-wide association studies of type 1 diabetes (T1D), 2,596 autoantibody-positive T1D case subjects and 5,082 control subjects from a Chinese Han population were included to study the associations between the identified T1D risk loci, age and fasting C-peptide levels at T1D diagnosis. In the Chinese Han population, four T1D risk loci, including two novel loci (rs4320356 near BTN3A1 and rs3802604 in GAT3) and two previously reported loci (rs1770 in MHC and rs705699 in SUOX) were identified that had genome-wide significance. In individuals newly diagnosed with T1D, a link between both higher genetic score and an earlier age of T1D diagnosis and lower fasting C-peptide levels was noted.
