Identification of metabolites in plasma for predicting survival in glioblastoma
Molecular Carcinogenesis May 06, 2018
Shen J, et al. - The prognostic potential of circulating metabolomics profiling in glioblastoma was investigated. In both the training and testing sets (two-step metabolomics profiling), arginine, methionine, and kynurenate levels were found to be significantly related to 2-year overall survival. A significant relation of these 3 metabolites to 2-year disease-free survival was also demonstrated. In comparison to those with a low-risk score, a 2.41-fold decreased probability of 2-year overall survival and a 3.17-fold decreased probability of 2-year disease free survival was observed in glioblastoma patients with a high-risk score. Overall, a unique plasma metabolite profile that is predictive of glioblastoma prognosis was discovered.
