Identification of axillary lymph node metastasis in patients with breast cancer using dual-phase FDG PET/CT
American Journal of Roentgenology Nov 05, 2019
Sasada S, Masumoto N, Kimura Y, et al. - A total of 826 individuals with breast cancer were retrospectively assessed in order to evaluate the diagnostic performance of dual-phase 18F-FDG PET/CT in discovering axillary lymph node metastasis in individuals with breast cancer. Axillary lymph node metastasis was seen in 285 of 826 individuals. Delayed phase imaging recognized axillary lymph node metastasis as correctly as standard PET/CT. For the discovery of nodal metastasis, a high negative predictive value of PET/CT is beneficial in order to circumvent surgical axillary evaluation in individuals with category T1–2 breast cancer without lymph node swelling.
