Identification of a six-gene signature with prognostic value for patients with endometrial carcinoma
Cancer Medicine Oct 16, 2018
Wang Y, et al. - Researchers used The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database to develop a gene signature that can forecast the prognosis of patients with uterine corpus endometrial carcinoma (UCEC). They selected 11,390 key genes and randomly divided UCEC samples into training and testing sets. They used robust likelihood-based survival modeling and created a six-gene signature (CTSW, PCSK4, LRRC8D, TNFRSF18, IHH, and CDKN2A) with a prognostic function in UCEC, and significantly inferior overall survival was seen among patients in the high-risk group vs those in the low-risk group. In the testing dataset and the entire TCGA dataset, they obtained further validation for this signature. The results could offer novel biomarkers for prognosis in UCEC.
