Ictal source imaging and electroclinical correlation in self-limited epilepsy with centrotemporal spikes
Seizure - European Journal of Epilepsy Sep 21, 2017
Alving J, et al. - Researchers performed this study to clarify the localization of ictal EEG activity, and compare it to semiological features in self-limited epilepsy with centrotemporal spikes (formerly called Âbenign epilepsy with centrotemporal spikesÂ). In patients with self-limited epilepsy with centrotemporal spikes, source imaging of ictal EEG activity demonstrated activation of the operculo-insular area, time-locked to the contralateral focal myoclonic jerks. Fragmented seizure dynamics, with fluctuating course, previously described as a hallmark in patients with psychogenic non-epileptic seizures, could occur in rolandic seizures.
