Englum BR, et al. - This study was performed to assess the current use and comparative effectiveness of hypothermia/cerebral perfusion (CP) strategies in aortic arch surgery. Findings suggested strategies without adjunctive CP, including the most commonly utilized strategy of straight deep/profound (D/P) hypothermia, as inferior to those utilizing CP. Among remaining techniques, authors identified no clearly superior strategy and recommended randomized trials to define best practice.
