Hypoglycaemia and diabetes‐specific quality of life in adolescents with type 1 diabetes
Diabetic Medicine Apr 01, 2021
Coolen M, Aalders J, Broadley M, et al. - This study was undertaken to determine if frequency, perceived severity and fear of hypoglycaemia are independently correlated with diabetes‐specific quality of life in adolescents with type 1 diabetes. Questionnaires were completed by adolescents (12‐18 years; n = 96). The only factor that was independently associated with diabetes‐specific quality of life was fear of hypoglycemia, whereas frequency and perceived severity of hypoglycemia were not. Such findings emphasise the importance of recognising and assessing hypoglycemia fear in clinical practice.
