Hypofunction of left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex in depression during verbal fluency task: A multi-channel near-infrared spectroscopy study
Journal of Affective Disorders Feb 14, 2018
Akiyama T, et al. - Researchers performed an investigation of frontotemporal function during word production task in depression with multi-channel near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS). In addition, they clarified whether any depressive symptoms affect frontotemporal dysfunction. Observations revealed that in depression during verbal fluency task, the bilateral frontotemporal regions were hypofunctional. Furthermore, in the left hemisphere, hypofunction of these regions by this task might indicate whether the subjects recovered from depressed mood, or loss of interest or pleasure.
