Hyperuricemia as a prognostic factor after acute coronary syndrome
Atherosclerosis Jan 20, 2018
Lopez-Pineda A, et al. - The goal of this paper was to examine the tie-up between hyperuricemia and medium/long-term clinical outcomes in patients with acute coronary syndrome. Furthermore, researchers evaluated if the addition of hyperuricemia to the GRACE score improved its predictive capability. Hyperuricemia exhibited a link with higher medium/long-term mortality and major cardiovascular event rates in the study cohort. An improvement could be noted in the risk classification due to the addition of hyperuricemia to the GRACE score. However, the discrimination of the new predictive model did not change. Higher all-cause mortality was found in the medium and high-risk score categories among hyperuricemic patients.
