BMC Nephrology May 28, 2021
Chen R, Sun G, Liu R, et al. - This observational cohort study was conducted to observe community-dwelling adults aged 60 years and older in Tianjin, China, for 7 years, to examine the cross-sectional and longitudinal links between the hypertriglyceridemic waist (HTGW) phenotype and the risk of chronic kidney disease (CKD). The HTGW phenotype was characterized as a waist circumference of 90 cm or more and triglyceride levels of 2.0 mmol/L or more in men or a waist circumference of 85 cm or more and triglyceride levels of 1.5 mmol/L or more in women. Findings of this community-based cohort analysis corroborated an independent link of HTGW phenotype with an elevated risk of prevalent as well as incident CKD in this study population of older adults in China.
