Hypersensitivity reactions to multiple anti-tuberculosis drugs
PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases Feb 08, 2021
Shin HJ, Chang JS, Kim MS, et al. - In this study, hypersensitivity reactions to anti-tuberculosis (TB) drugs were evaluated. Of 28 patients diagnosed with anti-TB drug hypersensitivity reactions (DHRs) using oral drug provocation tests, 17 (60.7%) had DHRs to a single drug and 11 (39.3%) had multiple DHRs. This suggests a common occurrence of multiple anti-TB DHRs in all patients who experienced DHRs, and the most common causative drug reported was rifampin. Patients with multiple DHRs appeared to exhibit poorer treatment outcomes than those with single DHRs.
