Jesus P, et al. - The authors examined whether hypermetabolism was a deleterious prognostic factor in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). They observed hypermetabolism in more than 50% of ALS patients. At diagnosis, it modified the body composition, and patients with hypermetabolism > 20% had a worse prognosis.
