Annals of Internal Medicine Feb 24, 2018
Kingsbury SR, et al. - This research was pursued in order to comparatively investigate the effectiveness of hydroxychloroquine vs placebo as an analgesic treatment of hand osteoarthritis. Both the placebo and hydroxychloroquine therapy did not disclose any notable differences in the self-reported pain and function, grip strength, quality of life, radiographic structural change and adverse events. When compared to placebo, hydroxychloroquine did not exhibit greater effectiveness for pain relief in patients with moderate to severe hand pain and radiographic osteoarthritis.
