How to choose proper local treatment in men aged ≥75 years with cT2 localized prostate cancer?
Cancer Medicine May 12, 2019
Jin K, et al. - Researchers compared radical prostatectomy (RP) vs radiotherapy (RT) as treatment options for people over 75 years of age with cT2 localized prostate cancer. They identified the participants from the Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results database (2004-2015). They assessed cancer-specific mortality and overall mortality following adjustment by using multivariable Cox proportional hazard models. They computed the unmeasured confounders by using an instrument variate. Particularly for patients with Gleason score=7 and younger patients in this population, RP was found to be more beneficial than RT.
