How does migraine change after 10 years? A clinical cohort follow-up analysis
Headache: The Journal of Head and Face Pain Feb 28, 2020
Caronna E, Gallardo VJ, Fonseca E, et al. - In this 10-year longitudinal study, researchers sought to characterize the 10-year evolution of a cohort of migraine patients, concentrating on prognostic factors of improvement. This investigation was conducted in a specialized Headache Clinic. One thousand one hundred nine consecutive migraine patients who answered an initial survey were recruited in 2008. After 10 years, 380 patients (mean age 41.0 ± 10.6 years) completed the survey. After 10 years, the migraine improved in nearly half of the patients who answered the survey. In addition to migraine's natural pathophysiology, having a medical follow-up and healthy habits like nonsmoking were independent factors related to improvement.
